Applicable regulations
There are 2 regulations that regulate passenger rights and it is essential to differentiate between them:
EU REGULATION 261/2004
Applies only to delays, cancellations and denied boarding (overbooking) when the airline is European, or if it takes off from a European country even if the airline is not European.
For baggage incidents, the Montreal Convention must always be applied.

COMPENSATION TABLE UNDER EU REGULATION 261/2004
- Compensation for flight delay:
- Less than 1,500 km: €250
- Between 1,500 km and 3,500 km: €400
- More than 3,500 km: €600
- Expenses incurred or missed due to the delay:
- Lost hotels at the destination
- Taxis
- Meals at the airport or outside of it
- Missed tours
- Car rentals
In addition, you can demand a refund of the purchased ticket if you decide not to travel because the flight delay makes your trip no longer make sense or you can request a refund of the new ticket purchased if you decide to look for another alternative to reach your destination if the airline does not reprogram your flight for free or if you reject the option because it is not convenient for you.
